A new dance craze has surfaced and it's called dance walking. LXTV NBC reporter Ben Aaron was doing a report on the streets of New York City when he saw someone dancing on the street, prompting him to do a report on dance walking. Instead of walking on the streets to where you need to get to, you dance. Dance walking went viral on the internet and now people everywhere want to dance walk.
FYI -you don't need to be an experienced dancer or be the most coordinated
Earlier this month, wanttodance.ca learned Ben Aaron was coming to town and there would be dance walking. Of course, we had to be a part of it!
We had seen the video sometime in May and decided we needed to do our own dance walk video, but dance walking with Ben Aaron was even better! We just had to find him first. We met up with other dance walkers in downtown Toronto and proceeded to dance along the streets pumping Martha & The Vandellas, Michael Jackson, and Billy Joel out of a boombox.
It took a couple of minutes to adjust to dancing and walking (it's not so easy with a group) but soon enough, we were moving along and random people began to join in for a quick dance! The whole experience was a memorable one, and you can see that all you need is some music and some moves for a good time. We danced for two hours that morning with people we just met including the awesome people from DanceWalk TO, a group dedicated to spreading positive vibes and joy around the streets of Toronto and throughout the world through Dance Walking and the love of dance in general. Check out Ben and DanceWalkTO peeps (and wanttodance.ca!) as they take over the streets.
, you just have to let the music take over.
