America’s Best Dance Crew
finally returns for a sixth season and while I can’t view the sneak peak of tonight’s episode on MTV.com because my computer is in Canada, I do have the list of the Top Ten Crews competing for this year’s crown and $100,000 prize.
fans will be seeing a younger crew hitting the stage, the youngest being ten-years-old, crews from all over the world and much more.
But before I get to those crews, there are a few new things happening with ABDC
. Dubbed as the “Season of the Superstars”, each episode will be themed to a popular artist and crews have to incorporate all aspects of that artist’s style. With appearances and themed episodes of Justin Bieber, Ke$ha
, I can picture purple hoodies and wind-swept hair, garbage and glitter, and finally, fiery red hair with a dash of jungle fever.
Taking over Omarion
’s seat and joining JC Chasez
and Lil Mama
at the judges table this season is Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval
, member of Season Three Champs Quest Crew
(I’m pretty sure I have a Quest Crew tshirt lying around somewhere).
Here are the Chosen Ten hitting the ABDC
stage for Season Six:
Bringing a Latin flavour to the stage, this crew from Puerto Rico brings lots of flips and finesse as seen in a clip
from their audition video.
After watching these gentlemen work the dance floor, I want a bow tie. From California, each member brings a specialty to the group and this video
gives you a little intro to their style and swagger.
This crew is exactly what their name says -foot work kings! The crew from the Windy City have been on America's Got Talent
and they show they can move as a group. Check out this video
(at the two minute mark) that has them working those crazy legs.
Coming from Houston, this group
is full of characters and based on the loads of video
out there displaying their skills (including their youngest crew member, 15-year-old Chachi
), I'm looking forward to seeing what this crew has to offer.
The youngest crew to ever hit the ABDC
stage, the youngest at 10 years old, they have the skills to compete in the top ten, especially with a ABDC Season One alum
as directing them (remember Geo from ICONic
?). The group from New Jersey has already seen the big stage
on Paula Abdul
’s Live To Dance
let's see if Geo and his boys fair better on this show.
This is the B-boy crew for ABDC
Season Six and they've already got their supporters repping the chopsticks to support their crew. It seems like these guys, based in California, love to goof around
but once they hit the stage it's nothing but precision and dizzying tricks
These ladies are not only contemporary dancers, but a pole dance company
as well. Hailing from California, they are on a mission to dismiss the stereotypes of pole dancing and show off their acrobatic skills.
This co-ed group from Beantown mixes modern and traditional styles. Seven dancers from the dance complex Phunk Phenomenon
aim to raise awareness to Sanfilippp syndrome.
This all-female group
is currently the 2010-2011 World Hip Hop Champions. Based in New Zealand, these girls are from all over the world. If these girls are anything like We Are Heroes
and Beat Freaks
, we are in for quite the show.
These Californians are taking krumping to the stage and this video
gives you a peek at their skillls as they wait to audition.
So who will it be? I’ve got my eye on ReQuest, Instant Noodles and I.aM.mE. Head over to Much Music
to see a trailer for tonight’s show.
Chat with us tonight at 10pm EST on Twitter
and check back tomorrow to see our recap of the season premiere of ABDC!
