DWTS Season 13: Rob Kardashian stands a chance!

We started Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars talking about Chaz Bono, Carson Kressley, even Hope Solo. As the couples danced each week, we were certain it would come down to Ricki Lake, JR Martinez and Chynna Phillips. But then Chynna was eliminated early in the competition and shimmying along under the radar was reality star Rob Kardashian –who by the way, managed to get the highest score of the night.

First Round (Unlearned Style)

Ricki and Derek were up first with a Cha Cha. The steps were fast, the hips were moving and Ricki tried to bring out her sexiness thanks to the help of judge, Carrie Ann. The judges ate up every minute of the dance. Score: 27

Bruno came in to help Rob with his manly chest techniques to help out with the Viennese Waltz dance. Not exactly his best performance- the guy ran around as though he was going for a jog. But, he at least looked like he was enjoying himself (and Kim made and appearance!). As Carrie Ann said, he was the Cinderella of the ball. Score: 27

JR and Karina were visited by Len who was in more than a good mood. He helped JR get back in the groove (especially in the hips) in the Cha Cha. Sadly, the judges just didn’t think it was good. Musicality is off, arms need to tighten. Score: 24

Second Round (Freestyle Dance)

For their freestyle routine, Derek started the dance with some impressive flips and tumbles to get the crowd going and Ricki, rocking a white tutu-like ballroom dress, came out popping. An entertaining number, but I don’t think it made as much of an impression as the other dances. Score: 27

Rob and Cheryl were next with a 1920s-inspired dance. Dressed as dappers, the dance started off slow with Rob displaying his strength with all his lifts. The number picked up and including a little shake in the bum from Rob. With a standing ovation from the audience, Rob fell to the floor in shock and to catch his breath. Score: 30

Last up was JR and Karina who gave a hip-hop-infused Latin dance. It felt more like dancing in a club as they spent the beginning and end of the routine dancing on podiums. But the judges loved the risqué lifts. Score: 30

We learn that every time Derek is in the finals, his celebrity partner wins. I don’t know if I can say this year will be the same. Especially since Rob finished with the highest score of the night. So who will it be: JR or Rob?
