December Studio Spotlight: Randolph Academy for Performing Arts

Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts

Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts is a Private Career College that also encompasses a children’s recreational program; providing world-class performing arts training to young artists.

Located in the heart of the Annex neighborhood in downtown Toronto, the Randolph Academy has 4 dance studios, 5 vocal rooms, and 2 theatres. Distinguished faculty and industry professionals shape Triple Threat™ skills of dancing, acting and singing. No other curriculum presents such a focused perspective on building Triple Threat™ skills, essential for future success in the highly competitive performing arts industry. Classes for children age 3-17 are offered in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Acting, and Triple Threat™ Musical Theatre, with performance opportunities in our two audition-based groups, the Randolph Glee Choir and the Randolph Dance Crew. College alumni and faculty have contributed to projects such as Rent, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Mamma Mia, Fosse, The Little Mermaid, Hairspray, The Sound of Music, 42nd Street, Dirty Dancing, Chicago, West Side Story, We Will Rock You!, Jersey Boys, The Producers, Rock of Ages, and Jesus Christ: Superstar.

Most recently the Randolph Academy celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a Gala held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto. The event consisted of 20 performances by Randolph students as well as featured alumni. The Honorary Chair of the evening was David Mirvish who spoke about the long-standing relationship that the Randolph Academy and Mirvish Productions have shared since the Academy’s founding in 1992. One of the notable events was the presentation of the first ever Gregory Hines Performing Arts Mentorship Award. The honor was given to Tara Young, a graduate of the Academy and now Artistic Director of Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour.

In addition to the Gala, the Academy has also renovated and renamed its largest theatre in celebration of its 20th Anniversary. The Randolph Theatre, formerly the Bathurst Street Theatre, was named after the President and Founder of the Academy, George C. Randolph Jr. To see the full scope of the programs we offer, visit www.randolphacademy.com or contact us to book a tour: Lauren Randolph (College Program) admissions@randolphacademy.com or Alison Daley (Kids Program) kids@randolphacademy.com.
