Whether it’s participating in community events or prepping for the year-end recital, Amanda’s School of Dance is all about having fun! Here’s a look at the only dance school in Saint John that offers Hawaiian dance classes.
For studio owner Amanda Watkins dance, is all about the art form.
“Dance is a beautiful art form that any person can do no matter what their body type, age or ability,” she says. “Dance also allows you to express any emotion or situation in a way that everyone can understand and connect with.”
The dance school, based in Saint John, New Brunswick's Latimore Lake, began in 2004 by Amanda and was later joined by her partner and husband in 2007. Amanda began her dancing career at the tender age of 3 and progressed and excelled in all her classes. Notable instructors in Amanda’s past include: Al Gilbert, Darryl Retter and Janice Barringer.
At
Amanda’s School of Dance, anyone can join! Offering dance classes to all age groups, classes include Pre-school, Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, Belly dance and Hawaiian. Corporate team building classes, birthday/bachelorette dance parties and private tuition based on the client’s needs are also available.
Classes never exceed more than ten dancers at a time allowing for more individual time with the dance instructor, so no one ever misses the chance to learn and enjoy in the relaxed environment present at Amanda’s School of Dance.
This year has seen more expansion into the corporate team building classes. Major businesses have taken part in Hawaiian classes and Belly dance classes as part of a team building workshop, with day classes available in the office or at the dance studio.
Everyone is welcome to learn and enjoy, no matter how many left feet they have – nobody is ever under any pressure to perform like Britney, the only thing you will ever need is to have fun and want to dance!
